Support

Nursing Services
The Home provides nursing care services under the support of Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses and Resident Care Workers on a 24-hour basis. Our nursing staff, while assisting residents with all their daily care needs, provide a stable and secure environment. Garden Home strives to ensure a chemical and physical restraint free environment.
Care conferences for each resident occur at least once a year. These care conferences review the total care services provided to a resident. The family is invited to attend these conferences and their suggestions and questions are welcome.
No prescription medication or non-prescription medication is to be kept in the resident’s room. The resident’s Doctor, the Pharmacist and Registered Nurse, conducts a drug review of all medication regularly. The Home, with its exclusive relationship with the Friendly Pharmacy, provides a high quality and dependable service to our residents.
Medical Doctor Services
A house Doctor visits on a regular basis. The Doctor provides emergency and on-call medical services. The resident may retain the services of their own family Doctor, if they wish. This Doctor should be prepared to visit the resident at the Home when called and provide emergency services on a 24-hour basis.
Dental Services
Once every year a Dentist and a Hygienist come to the Home to conduct an assessment of each resident’s dental health. This assessment is provided at no cost to the resident.
Fire & Safety Program
Garden Home is equipped with a comprehensive fire alarm and sprinkler system for the protection of residents, staff and visitors. Fire drills are conducted on a monthly basis to ensure reliability of the system and to keep staff and residents informed and prepared for any emergency.
Residents of Garden Home also have the added security of having access to a call bell system so that they can advise the nursing staff when assistance is needed.
Exits from the Home are electronically controlled to insure the safety of residents who are prone to wander. As well, the front door has a Watch Mate Alarm System. Residents who are considered a flight risk and cannot be managed at Garden Home, must be put on a transfer list to be moved to a safety unit at appropriate facility.
